The Oregon Lottery is looking for (1) one Senior Accountant to join the team, working in a hybrid capacity where you will work with the Finance and Accounting team on site, in Salem, OR approximately two days per week.

About the Role
The Accountant will report to the Manager of Accounting as part of the Finance and Accounting team. You will perform complex accounting transactions, reconciliations, purchase order and contract reviews, reporting and research. You will also ensure payroll tax compliance, reconciliation and multi-state set up. You will provide organization-wide support and training in ERP financial systems, GAAP and Finance & Accounting related procedures.

Guide tax research activities, reconciliations, process improvement, ERP implementations and multi-state payroll compliance and set-up activities.
Provide regular guidance to payroll staff on complex or escalated payroll issues.
Train and advise accounting staff and overall organization in GAAP, ERP systems, accounting processes.
Work with staff to ensure entry of transactions, troubleshoot ERP, identify and correct errors and respond to accounting questions from staff and departments.
Develop transactional processes to ensure accurate accounting transactions; review internal control process documents and updates.
Review purchase requisitions and purchase orders for completeness and account coding, comparing to transactional entries, budget and contract review.
Provide guidance and training, with procurement, to other departments on budget planning and account coding.
Perform complex accounting tasks including approval of general journal entries, assist with month end close, development of work procedures, reconciliations, research, reporting, resolve audit questions and supports ERP/Finance related process improvements.

Be the back-up to other accounting roles as assigned. Partner with F&A leaders to meet department goals.
You Have:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years of full cycle accounting experience in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which includes payroll processing (or related government compliance); OR
Eight (8) years of full cycle accounting experience in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which includes payroll processing (or related government compliance).
